Trend Watch: Spring Bags

The warm weather is finally upon us up here in the Northeast! Woohoo! When the seasons change, a fun and easy wardrobe update is accessories. The spring bag trends are all about fun shapes and fabrications. I’ve pulled together three of these trends I’m loving and giving you low($) and high($$$) versions. I promise that all will work for my chic mamas out there!

Kicking off the trends with unexpected material. Cult Gaia has created amazing bags made of bamboo or acrylic. A current favorite of mine is the Mini Ark clutch. I’ve been taking this everywhere with me! The bamboo cage is so unexpected and it goes with literally anything in your closet. Cult Gaia also made a circle cross-body version. It’s stunning – look at that strap! – but more expensive than the clutch.

The next trend is PVC. Yes, you read that right. As in see-through. As in jelly. It’s back. And before you call me crazy, Chanel has done a ton of these and what Chanel does, we follow. It’s the rule. So a fun and super inexpensive way to get this look is this cross-body from Forever21. Forever21 will always be a great way to have fun with styles you don’t want to spend a ton on. If you love this trend and PVC is your jam (and maybe have an unlimited budget?) this Valentino is for you. It’s studded and amazing and comes with a pouch inside for anything you don’t want on display.

And finally, circle bags! This shape is everywhere this season from beach totes to evening clutches. (And seen above in bamboo!) A perfect way to embrace this trend with an everyday bag that won’t break the bank is this cross-body from Target. Their Universal Thread line is really hitting the mark this season. This faux-leather bag can be worn over and over, and at $22 is a total steal. If you’re ready to invest a bit more, I am obsessed with this Clare V tote! The blush color is gorgeous and it has both a shoulder strap and a handle. It’s also definitely big enough to tote around all your mom supplies!

Happy Shopping!
