I was recently in a wedding where the bride let us pick our own bridesmaid dresses. (She da best!) The requirements were simply that it had to be black and full length. I turned to Nordstrom, which always has a great selection of gowns online. Some of their stores have a pretty good selection too, but since I was color-specific I knew that online would have the most options.
I fell in love with this Alfred Sung Trumpet Gown that is just stunning! Look at that back detail!
The reviews suggested sizing up, and I did that. This is a 4 compared to my usual dress size of 2. I did have to take the hem up about one inch. I am 5’4″, so if you’re taller, you might not need that. Although I am wearing 4″ heels here, so that helped! Important note: if you have a Nordstrom credit card, they include an alterations credit each year. I was able to apply that to cover the $35 fee for hemming. Win!
Other than the hem, the fit was spot on! The trumpet silhouette is so flattering on all body types. I looooooved the open back with the little bow detail. I knew I wanted to show that off, so opted for a slightly messy, low-bun hairstyle with simple stud earrings. And I kept the makeup classic but with lashes, because, duh.
It was such a chic look and I loved it! The best part is that this is that I fully intend to wear this again! We usually attend a formal Christmas party, and this would be absolutely perfect for that. And it comes in six colors, so you’re not limited to just black.
At the wedding, the various black dresses all looked great together, such a good idea! Cheers to the bride!
